Dr. Jaume Guia is Professor of Tourism at the University of Girona. He leads the Tourism Research Campus and helped found international master programmes such as the Erasmus Mundus EMTM and MATTeRS, a new programme on regenerative tourism futures. His work centers on equitable EU–Sub-Saharan Africa collaboration through joint curricula, mobility, and institutional capacity building. He coordinates projects with universities in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya, (e.g. 3iS), as well as in Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, Botswana, South Africa, and Ghana. He has published widely and supervised 20+ PhDs. Jaume champions collaborative, practice-engaged research that strengthens higher-education ecosystems and shared regional development.
